Miami County Dental Clinic Expands Traveling Smiles Program with Addition of Dr. Steve Ritzi

Troy, Ohio – The Miami County Dental Clinic (MCDC) is pleased to announce that Dr. Steve Ritzi has joined the team as a dentist with the Traveling Smiles school-based dental program. Dr. Ritzi brings 36 years of dental experience to the role, and his addition will allow the program to expand services and reach more children throughout Miami County.

Traveling Smiles is a portable dentistry program that brings preventive and restorative dental care directly into Miami County schools. Using mobile equipment, the team provides exams, cleanings, X-rays, sealants, and restorative treatment to children enrolled in the program. The goal is to remove barriers to care by meeting students where they already are at school and ensuring they receive the oral health services they need to stay healthy and ready to learn.

Established in 2012, the Traveling Smiles program has continued to grow as more schools and families enroll their children in a convenient, supportive dental care environment.

With the addition of Dr. Ritzi alongside Dr. Keira Ankrom, Traveling Smiles will now be able to provide care in local schools three to four days each week, significantly increasing access to dental treatment for children across the county.

The Traveling Smiles team is led by Coordinator Gail Newhouse, with support from newly hired Coordinator Assistant Ellie Mancini, Dental Assistant Paige Burrell, and Dental Hygienist Angie Reynolds. Together, the team works closely with Miami County schools to schedule visits and provide preventive and restorative dental care to students enrolled in the Traveling Smiles program.

To support the program’s continued growth, the Miami County Dental Clinic is seeking an additional dental assistant to join the Traveling Smiles team.
